Routine
RACES Net Script8:00PM, Wednesday nights on 146.920(-)
Good evening, and welcome to the Washtenaw County Routine Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service! My name is
_______, callsign is _____________, and I’m the net control station for tonight. The routine RACES net meets each Wednesday night at 8PM here on frequency 146.920. Break. (Unkey, pause a few seconds, then rekey & continue)The Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and in Michigan is managed by the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management Division.. RACES provides radio communications support to the government in times of local, regional or national declared emergencies. You must be a RACES member to check-into this net, according to FCC rules & regulations. I will be available to answer questions about RACES membership after this net, or during the routine ARES net which will follow it.
This is a check-in net only, unless you have traffic for the net. If so, simply state "TRAFFIC" when you check-in. The "TRAFFIC" must pertain to RACES operations. All other questions concerning amateur radio public service communications should be held for our routine ARES net. When you check-in, please give your callsign phonetically, followed by your first name
(IF YOU WOULD LIKE OTHER DETAILS, SUCH AS LOCATION, ETC. MENTION THAT TOO!). This routine RACES net is only open to amateur operators possessing current Michigan RACES ID cards. If you’re a part of another Michigan county’s RACES program, please give the county name when you check-in. Break.I’ll now accept check-ins from mobile or portable stations only. Please try to ensure that you’re not doubling with another station.
OK, I’ll now open it up to any & all stations wishing to check-into the Washtenaw County Routine RACES Net. Again, please give your callsign phonetically, your first name,
(any other info you requested), and if you have traffic for the net, state "TRAFFIC."(Take check-ins a few times during the net, acknowledge stations who have checked-in, and specifically acknowledge those who indicated they had traffic. Let the traffic go ahead after you’ve taken your first batch of check-ins, take more check-ins, make any announcements you might have, then close the net!)
This concludes the Washtenaw County Routine Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service Net. Thanks to all of you for participating, and thanks to K8RUR & the I-94 Repeater Group for the use of their repeater. Until next Wednesday evening the routine Washtenaw RACES Net is closed,
and I’d like to remind you that the Washtenaw County Routine Amateur Radio Emergency Service Net --open to everyone--will be starting shortly on frequency 145.150MHz, the N8DUY repeater. This is (your callsign!)_______ clear. Thanks for helping out with the nets!
